Budding Artists

Over the weekend the girls were suffering with really chesty coughs, so we decided to stay indoors so they could recover. As many of you know, staying indoors with kids can be extremely difficult for their attentions spans, therefore yesterday, we decided to do a painting activity. Its something I used to do lots with J when she was about S age, but poor S hasn't really experienced. (the curse of the 2nd child??)
I have avoided painting many times in this current house due to carpet in every room of the house apart from the kitchen, but on this occasion, thought why not? And set up huge painting spread for each girl on the kitchen floor, and securely locked them in with a stair-gate, which has been very kindly lent to us until we move, after the cat poop incidents.
J wanted a pink and a purple, so I mixed these up ready as well as the pallete.
 Then they were let loose.....

S started to get bored very quickly, so I showed her how to do hand prints, and J quickly followed suit...
S loved getting so dirty, but I was very watchful where she went and more importantly touched after her drawing on walls incident...
She was very good though, and kept the paint to the paper, or the floor surrounding it...

Artists in the making.....
 Going for round 2....

J with her final art work.... its a rainbow, with handprint fireworks, blue sky, a person and flowers...
 S was just exploring....

The girls then were transported very quickly up to the shower where they were locked in until the bath was ready, as S decided to sit in the paint... and it was the only surface washable...

The paintings today, seeing the difference from scribbles to actually attempting something made me capture J's drawings over the past year, mainly so we can dispose of the originals ready for the house move (de-cluttering) but still keeping the memories. These following pictures are all from J in the past year (Age 3-4)

J went through a stage of drawing rainbows, the best rainbows are currently on display on our fridge, and I will upload them, when they are taken down, they are so bright they brighten any room.

This one is actually a Chinese dragon, she done at nursery for the Chinese new year...
