WILLIES on the beach!!!!

Today started off as a really bad day. S was not in a happy mood, and J was starting to pick up on it and get irritable too. Mummy had a late night the night before, so mummy was also grumpy at the early start. Daddy was off to work... I could not do a full day like this. After our breakfast I decided to be spontaneous and ask a friend along for a day out, knowing full well the girls would love to spend time with L again, who they haven't really seen since moving, and mummy could have a chinwag with her mummy. The last day out with L was in the last half term in the rain. so was nice to have a day when the sun was shining instead.
After the excitement of seeing each other again, we headed to the beach... Not just any beach, Crosby beach. The beach that's not suitable for bathing, but has 100 statues of naked men.... the girls found this hilarious!! The sun was shining, but wasn't hot enough to worry about sun cream, nor cold enough to have to worry about coats... perfect!

At the first statue, we asked the girls to hold his hand for a photo, poor S didn't have a hand, so instantly went for the willy... oh the innocence of a 2 year old...
The next statue we came across was half in the ground, and the girls thought they could push him over, they tried for a good 5 minutes before giving up...

... but also enjoyed a good run around with the sea breeze in their hair..

The sand wasn't like sand anywhere else ive seen. It is mixed with oil in places, and in some areas it sinks, the worms love it, as they left their marks behind. Once I had pointed this out to S, she was in worm heaven.. and attempted to dig...
due to the distance, it was soon time for lunch, so we set up in front of a statue... the girls weren't very interested in the food though...

...and soon started to feed the iron man....
...and then cover him up with sand... which soon started in a throwing sand at him...

...throwing sand always ends one way... sand in the eye... this was L's 2nd time ever at the beach, so she instantly wiped with a sandy hand, which made it a lot worse... mummy to the rescue...
...they were soon off again, attempting to get to the man in the sea....
 ...collecting shells on the way...
..and finding a patch of the sinking sand....
...which resulted in lost balance... this photo was taken the instant she fell... look at the reaction of her mummy... teehee...
...not deterred they headed on together...
...and then it started to get to dangerous, so we gave up after we all just kept sinking and sinking...

we found a clean, non sinking bit of tide, to clean the oily sand off, and have a bit of a splash...
....and collect more shells of course....
...and then on to the next statue, this one was stood on a platform, with a puddle underneath...

 ...jumping for joy...

...they were all jumping in this picture....
...the girls loved examining the statues that were closer to the sea, as they could see what the salt water had done to them....
...We soon got onto sand writing...

...and then another pool to wash our hands... but yep, another sinking pool...

...we stumbled upon a man that had covered himself up, and L's mum, left a bracelet behind for him too...

...after all the sandy puddle jumping, the splash back was inevitable...
... and all the sinking patches... meant S lost a welly... amazingly J's water shoes staid on the whole day!..
...so at this point 2 out of the 3 girls had lost their balance in the sinking sand... it was a ticking time bomb before girlie number 3....
 ...sank to her bum...
..it was then back to collecting shells, and at this part of the beach, we found a lot of long thin shells...

J then realised she likes the sinking, suction feeling, and goes back in another pool...
...on coming out... S compares the mud level... J is certainly more adventurous on this day..
...However S soon gains confidence with the jellyfish we find... some as big as her....

...we cant come to the beach without building sandcastles... so a last 10 minutes was spent constructing...

 ... and demolishing....

WHY did we not see this sign to start with? It led to a great enjoyable day though, and the lifeguards were on patrol.. just in case!
...no trip to the beach is complete without an ice cream, so after a quick change and wash up, it was back to the beach...

...we should have saved the clean clothes for after the ice cream though!

....the girls loved the beach so much, that we then drove on to the next beach, in search for a chippy tea... we finally found one... and managed to park the car on the sand, to watch out... unfortunately, the tide was out, so there wasn't much to see.... it went out of sight....

...so the girls preferred the sight of the fayre to entertain them instead..
...a perfect way, to end a lovely day...
....unfortunately though, we then hit bank holiday, nice weather, beach traffic....
