Monkeying around at the monkey forest

Mummy to boyz was up visiting the area for the Manchester Ideal home show, and was lucky enough to get a hotel, so the cousins could have some time out from each other if needed. But it seemed we hardly saw them, thankfully, we had planned the Saturday before they drove home to do something together. All our kiddies love the great outdoors, where they can run off all the excess energy that 1-4 year olds have. We settled on the Monkey Forest, as it was enroute for their drive back down south. However, it was the day of the big storm that was forecasted.... thankfully we were all equipped with waterproofs!
We met up in the car park... in the rain... and the older 3 had fun playing around whilst the buggy was assembled and made rain proof.

After entering the park, we decided to head to the café first as it was lunch time, but that meant we had to go past the park.... so they had a quick play in the rain... the park was empty, so they got it to themselves....

The see-saw had the biggest thumbs up today.... I suppose it helped having 4 kids all around the same ages...

There were a few whines, when it was the other persons turn, but they got around that by adapting the positions...
...and even sharing the seats.... much to S disgust....

After a quick play, it was inside to the banana café... we decided on hot food, so we could just grab a sandwich when home again, saves mummy cooking after a busy week. The portions were huge for kids meal... and my hot dog, is the biggest I have seen.... The meals were very reasonable too... all 3 of our meals for £15....
After lunch, the rain eased off for a bit, so J and O got to map reading...
...enroute to the enclosure were information boards... after J walked into one accidentally, and realising they make a noise, they all decided to make 'fireworks' noises....
...it was then time to enter the monkey forest....
...S was more interested in the little green bug on the fence though....

After a little walk, we came across one of the feeding areas, where a talk was going on...

S soon got bored and picked a buttercup and tried giving it to L, he was more interested in trying to find someone to open some snacks for him...
J listened and watched as the rain came back again....
... and S found a monkey that was watching all the people....

... she soon joined O in splashing in puddles.... this is a huge development... S has normally been to scared to 'jump' in the puddles.... maybe its her new waterproof trousers? Or her bigger cousin doing it as well as J?
...after the talk... the splashing got more intense....

...whilst S got back to watching the monkeys...

...she became even more fascinated as one walked straight across her path in front of her....
....so we followed it.... as I was taking a picture of the girls and the '3 wise monkeys' another monkey came up to investigate me....

...it then got vocal, as 2 monkeys started play fighting by biting the bums right infront of the girls... J found this hilarious....

... and Mummy to boyz wasn't expecting one of them to come and pose that close for her....

.... S then found a treasure of some sort of flower from a tree...
...and soon started chasing the others to show them....

... we found a spot for some posing pictures... J doesn't understand 'family photos' and wanted to be in the mummy to boyz photo too...

...further up the path.... a monkey was feeling bold, and started munching right next to us....

S tried getting closer to one....
.... but soon stopped....

...and L was all smiles....
....as he was planning on becoming a monkey too.... but his mummy soon stopped those plans....

...around the park are boards, with information like this, or multiple choice questions...J loved trying to guess the right answer, and then lifting the flap to say if she was right or wrong...
....in the parts there were no monkeys in sight... the landscape itself was picturesque... J wanted to go stream splashing again though....

...but soon opted to pretending to fly like a bird after finding some feathers...
...S got entranced by the river again that was flowing under the bridge....

...and then all 4 kiddies found it hilarious watching a duck trying to wash itself and swim up stream, but kept getting pushed back with the flow.... right at the top of a small waterfall...

...J soon got back to puddle splashing again....
.... whilst the monkeys swung close by....

S soon spotted the 5 week old baby monkey....
...but the excitement of puddle splashing took over....

....and all 3 got going.... whilst the mummy's got some pictures of the baby monkey....

....in this one... the monkeys in the tree were playing again, and one is falling off...

.... the sun soon came out, and the coats stripped off, which meant one thing for the older cousins.... tickle time with the feather they found earlier...on a bare belly....

...they soon stopped as another monkey started to get closer...
...and S wanted to hold its hand....
... it was soon time to leave, as after over an hour, the children did start to get tired....
...on the path leading out, another monkey wanted to get our attention by walking right past us....
.....then it was one last time for play, before we went our separate ways again, until September, or possibly December....

...the younger two, soon found something to scream about though...
... L got on a ride that S had just been on....
....so we tried letting them share....
...but L didn't want to share....
...so S looked all smug, as got the ride to herself again.... whilst L looks on confused how that happened....

....the see-saw was soon back in action with our kiddiewinks, and taking in turns was needed as the park was much busier now the sun had come out...

... and made even more fun, by making them fly.... up, up, up in the air....

It was another lovely day with the cousins, just like last time they got together. They don't often get together, so when they do, its nice when there is no arguments, and since doing activities, its just filled with excitement... and puddle splashing amongst monkeys.. that's not something you do every day...
...Us M Memories lot sure are looking forward to our next adventure with the mummy to boyz lot.

I was given free entry passes to come today, but all opinions and photos are my own.
