Update on my journey to the healthier me....

I have been attempting to live the paleo way recently.... and blogging about the start of my journey.... but the last few weeks I have kind of not been in the right frame of mind to blog. So I have been AWOL.... sorry! But I am back now!! :-)

I did well on my 2nd week, and even didn't have the lasagne as what was planned, instead I had the mince on a salad....WOW!!! I was off to a flying start and went full steam into it, even finding a recipe for gluten free pancakes.... which we filled with chicken... yummy!
I also got on google and found some yummy recipes.... like theses cinnamon swirls....

We also treated ourselves to the last bbq of the year for us... and think Daddy M went a bit OTT....

Something then clicked inside me, I'm not sure why, or exactly when, but all I wanted to do was eat all the cr*p food that I was trying to eliminate, go to bed and hibernate..... was this my depression coming back to haunt me?? I let it take over me for a few days, and then I caught the cold that hubby and J had caught... Great timing.... By this point we were coming in to week 3.... I was starting to snap myself out of it, slowly, otherwise the drs would have been back on the cards.... I couldn't hibernate away as had a family meal planned with the entire original M family....  As my cold disappeared, so did my foul mood, and I was suddenly craving all the fresh fruits and vegetables again.... it was like a switch suddenly got flipped.... I cant describe it, and don't know what happened, but I'm glad I'm out of it....

That takes us to the end of week 3, where a trip to Longleat was planned... for us its a 3.5 hour drive so out the house by 5.30 resulted to a mcD's for breakfast, and a pub meal for dinner. And I didn't choose wisely....

However, as we entered week 4... I have kept it simple... no long recipes to cook, just keeping it to roast dinners, and bangers and mash for dinner with the family. (Gluten free sausages of course) smoothies for breakfast, and simple lunches like ham and poached eggs, cucumber and carrot sticks with hummus etc... so far it is going well, and I am looking forward to doing my end of week 4 results. I am finally in the right frame of mind, its taken 3 weeks to get here, but I am here...

On the exercise front, that is going EXTREMEMLY well.... I'm still on target to the planned exercise and can manage moves that I didn't think I could at the start of the week, there is no excuses not to get it done, even a good friend did one with me, so I didn't have to postpone or skip it. Yeay!! That friend and I have also booked to see Jillian Michaels in January, to help spur us along!

I didn't think I would post my progress photos, but I need to keep accountable.... please me kind.... Here is my start and WEEK 2 results.... I feel like I have shrunk some more since then too, so cant wait to compare photos on Sunday....

Its not massive changes, but then again I wasn't 100% on track.... no longer looking back.... here is to the future....

  1. Wow you're doing great! I've gone wheat free over the last 6 months or so and I've felt SO much better for it. Noom helped me a lot too with healthier eating habits. Good luck with the rest of your healthy eating journey x

    1. Thank you, it is slow progress, and only feel this week that I am moving forward... It is amazing how bad you feel and not realise until you withdraw wheat and gluten isn't it? Thank you for the luck, its going to be a long journey, but a healthy one! :-)

  2. Great idea keeping it simple! Also write down what you are eating as that helps too :-)

  3. Good luck! I've just started a health kick yesterday. Going to do a YouTube video (the under 20 min ones) each day for a month. Hopefully it will help tonight before my hol! If you ever have a night you want an exercise idea pop over!
