Let the wedding season start...

Where has the time gone? We are in June already? Crikey. My social media pages are filled with wedding outfits, and pictures of table decorations. The wedding season has well and truly kicked off! Daddy M and myself have now been married almost 5 years, and I would love to plan it again, and again.

I never really found planning our wedding that stressful, and only really turned into "Bridezilla" the night before due to having to make last minute alterations to our table planner which I had spent many nights sorting, printing, and sticking. Oh and not to mention the dress disaster just three days before the wedding, resulting in the dress being almost completely redone. (Yeah we wont go into that now!) Thankfully my sister was there with a helping hand and a shoulder to cry on.

We bought a lot of home made touches into our small family wedding. Our invitations were home made, along with all the printed menus, and name cards. It felt so personal doing these touches ourselves, despite the time and surprising costs it soon equates too when the initial reason was to save some cash.

Marriage has changed so much throughout the years. In 2014, something great happened. Same sex marriage was legalised in some countries. Why should people be discriminated through gender, if they truly love someone?
Unfortunately divorce rates have increased, and this is a sad statistic. Are people just getting married for the wedding, and not thinking much of the actual marriage?

It seems marriage these days are for some people, and not for others. I am certainly a for marriage girl. Maybe its because I am a little materialistic? I really wanted that ring on my finger, and the title Mrs, maybe its for security reasons too. The insecure me wanted reassurance. Others see it as a very expensive piece of paper, but really, it needs no expense apart from the legal fee's, just full commitment.

Most of our friends are married now, so our wedding invites are becoming rare so its lovely to see the pictures floating around cyber space of all the beautiful dresses, and the love being re-ignited and confirmed.

Are you attending any weddings this year?

  1. I love a good wedding! I'm at the age now (25) where my friends are starting to get hitched. One of my best friends got married last August and another is getting married in September. I can't wait! I love your kiss photo, that's always the best part of a wedding. Your dress looks beautiful too.

  2. I haven't been to a wedding in ages, the last one I went to I was the bride! I think I'm still in that age range, where my friends are only just getting engaged (i'm 24 in august)
