Creating a Cardboard Dreamhouse

This month the girls were invited to design their ideal dream cardboard house. We were given a large strong cardboard house and the rest was dreamt up in the girls heads. Both girls are so different and couldn't decide on a "frog themed" house or a "princess fairy" house, so they did both. The fairest way to stop the squabbling was to give two sides to each girls.

As I have not been well for most of September I decided to keep things simple and just give the girls paint. Each had their own plate of all the paints we had and some paintbrushes. Most of our paintbrushes are big and fat which I feel incredibly bad for now after seeing what J was trying to create.

To save our dream house from being over run by children with paint we kept it in our kitchen, damage limitation and all that.

So I will let you see for yourselves what and how they created their dream cardboard home....

S decided the two hands and two brushes approach was her best option...

Whilst J went for more intricate detail painting a scene on her roof...

S was adamant hers was a "Frog house" with a..."look mum, its a frog!" Can you see that it is a frog?

It was lovely to see them both putting their own imaginations to use and not being able to see what the other was doing to side track their own ideas.

S's side had a lot of block colour, which is what I was expecting from both to be honest.

...however J wanted the roof to be a flying fairy picture to be camouflaged into the sky. This is where I feel bad that she only had chunky paintbrushes! Whoops! Sorry J.

She then went on to paint the door...

The final house is then revealed...

Both have reassured me it is their dream cardboard house. How happy do they look after creating their Dream?

Would you be just as happy to create your Dream home? I know I would love to create my dream house. If we owned the house we live in I have so many plans.
Ocean finance have been helping home owners build their dream home with mortgages, personal loans, homeowner loans and credit cards for over 20 years.

What would you do to create your dream home?  I would build an open plan extension and make it so much warmer!

*We were sent the play house for the purpose of creating the girls dream home to be entered into a competition. All words, photos and opinions are my own.

  16. I used to do this but with a normal card board box haha. Most fun I ever had as a child and your kids must think the same with those smiles on their faces.

  17. We painted the outside of our house last year, your girls look as though they had a lot more fun painted their dream house than we did painting the real thing.
