A holiday wish: Getting splashed by Shamu

J's wish this holiday was to get soaked by Shamu. Her wish was granted.

We visited SeaWorld Orlando not really knowing what to expect after Disney. We were pleasantly surprised. The parks were quiet and clean and the animals were impressive. I am not going to go into the documentary bad naming SeaWorld, I think that has already done its damage, and I saw nothing that should be bad mouthed to be honest. Yes, the animals should be in the wild, but seriously now let loose? I'm not so sure. They seem happy and if an animal doesn't want to do something, they don't force. (An example was with the Dolphins, needing rope as reins put around the nose, one dolphin shook its head to refuse and the rope was thrown backwards and something else was done instead).
Instead I am going to capture the memories we experienced.

We visited SeaWorld twice. The first time we saw the Killer Whale show we were on a side seat for the show and J really wanted to get splashed. Due to the tank set up this was impossible where we were sat so the next time we went to the Orca show, J was in prime position with Daddy and Grandad.

S had been freaking out about any little splashes throughout the holiday so I sat with her higher up with Grandma capturing it safely on the camera out of the splash zone.

The Orcas were beautiful. Jumping, diving, dancing and posing. They really are remarkable animals.

In this show there was three Orcas being used. Can you spot Daddy M and Grandads head here? (Just underneath the whales). J was mesmerised,

As the finale of the show crept up, she thought she got away from being splashed again as she was too close to the stage area.... BUT....

...and again....

... its safe to say she got her wish of getting splashed. She was soaked and needed changing afterwards with a big HUGE smile on her face from ear to ear.

(The tank you see in the picture is not all the whales have. There are huge tanks behind the screens out of sight where they are not in the public eye.)

  1. I am always surprised at how small the enclosures look in photos, though I am told they are absolutely massive x
